SERVICE MENU SETTINGS Tested on SAMSUNG SmartTV T27H390S (PC monitor with TV-tuner), software version 1280.5 (released on November 2019). The settings should also apply to other Samsung SmartTVs. NOTES Most settings that do not have corresponding hardware support (camera, haptic, etc) are not included in this document. Same for the most settings related to debugging and calibration (there are too much of them). Several settings are taken from the post https://forum.samygo.tv/viewtopic.php?t=12671. Thanks a lot for your hard work, Kazar! If you don't see some setting described below, activate Advanced Service Menu, Hidden Settings, and Additional Settings. When entering service menu, many of your user settings, including picture and sound, will revert to their default values. Changing of some settings may easily break down the quality and functionality, and even turn your TV into a brick. So be careful, and always think twice before changing the default settings! There is no item in service menu that allows to restore all settings to their default values. So it's a good idea to take a picture with your smartphone of each screen you enter before changing anything. Some settings are coupled, so changing one of them may automatically change the other without notifying you about that change. For some settings to apply, Factory Reset is required. It's a good practice to verify the implication of changed setting with the following procedure: Power off the device to leave service menu and save new value of the setting. Wait until power consumption drops below 1 W. It will take several seconds. Power on the device. Wait a minute. Power off the device again. Wait until power consumption drops below 1 W. This time it will take longer, from 20 to 60 seconds. Now the device is ready to be tested for new value of the setting (WoL feature, as example). The device can be turned on, if needed. To be absolutely sure, power off the device, disconnect the power supply from the mains outlet, and leave it in this state for the night. Verify the implication of changed setting in the morning. TO ENTER SERVICE MENU (requires basic IR remote control, smart remote control doesn't work) While TV is OFF (enters main service menu) Ensure that standby LED is blinking while holding Info button. If not, wait up to 1 minute after power off. Alternative variant is to connect the TV to mains outlet through power meter. As soon as power consumption drops below 1W after power off, TV is ready to accept the commands to enter service menu. Press the following buttons subsequently on remote control: Info + Settings + Mute + Power. TO ENTER ADVANCED SERVICE MENU (Advanced menu is added below ADC/WB; additional items appear in other menus, for example in Control => Sound) Remove any device connected to USB, then go to Service menu => SVC => Other Setting => Cal Data Restore, press OK on USB error message. TO OPEN HIDDEN SETTINGS IN ADVANCED SERVICE MENU (WBMovie, Picture_2D, and EPA items appear at the end of main menu) After you entered the advanced service menu, move the cursor to Advanced menu, and enter 0000. ADDITIONAL SETTINGS could be activated using INFO+FACTORY commands sent from service IR remote control while TV is ON (or DIY remote control consisted of two LEDs, see https://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php?title=Build_your_own_IR_transmitter), or sent via Wi-Fi/LAN using samsungctl.exe (see https://github.com/eclair4151/samsungctl/tree/websocketssl; it may be necessary to send the commands several times until advanced service menu appears on the screen). Note: FACTORY+3SPEED command doesn't work on this TV model. TO EXIT FROM SERVICE MENU Power Off the TV or press/play/send FACTORY+FACTORY command. LEGEND + The setting that I've changed permanently in my setup. ! The setting that may be handy in the future. MM My comments (to differentiate them from other comments within the description of one setting). SERVICE MENU SETTINGS Option Factory Reset Same effect as in Settings => Support => Self Diagnosis => Reset, but also clears network settings. Type 27A6LF2E Local Set CIS_RUSSIA SW Model TH39S BOM Model 39 TUNER S_T2C Ch Table NONE Sets built-in TV channel list. MRT Option Front Color N/A Lvds Format VESA Language Set CAUCASUS Defines the languages available in Settings => General => System Manager => Language. +REGION PANEURO -> PANNORDIG This is to enable TV programmes recording on USB flash or USB hard drive (see "Extended PVR" below). Note: when Region is changed, many settings are also changed automatically, including "Extended PVR". +PnP Language -> ENG This language is used for onboarding (initial Welcome message) when you power on TV for the first time after purchase, or after reset. !WIFI REGION - R R – Russia, Q – Ukraine, Е – Europe, А – Asia In case of any Wi-Fi connectivity problems, change to A. !OTN Support ON Not related to software updates via DVB-T/C/S (there is a site www.samsungotn.net). !OTA Support General Updates the software via wired or wireless connection. Teletext (TTX) ON If set to OFF, teletext is not available, TTX/MX button on remote control doesn't work. BD Wise Plus OFF Adjusts contrast and color balance for DVD or Blu-ray discs. Works only with players that support BD Wise. Not tested. +Extended PVR OFF -> ON Allows manual and scheduled recording of TV programmes on external USB device (hard drive or high performance flash). Also enables Timeshift feature. MM: Note that the following procedure resets most of TV settings, including channel list and service menu. 1) Change Region from PANEURO to PANNORDIG. 2) Change Extended PVR from OFF to ON 3) Turn the TV off, then on. 4) Perform TV channels tuning. When scheduled programme is being recorded, the device doesn't turn on (if it was off). Good in terms of power consumption. The values of settings "Instant On" and "Always Instant On Support" do not affect scheduled programme recording. HV Flip OFF If changed, the picture turns upside down on the next power on. !Network Support wifi_int May be used to disable internal wired or wireless adapters, or enable external Wi-Fi USB dongle. If set to NONE, power consumption is not reduced in neither working nor standby mode. !BT Support OFF If there are no hardware support (BT ADDRESS = Not support), it's possible to buy appropriate Wi-Fi+Bluetooth module (about 20€; buy it with cable, because the cable has more pins than only Wi-Fi chips). Some Wi-Fi+BT modules may have a different Wi-Fi chip from the stock one, so change also "Wifi Vendor" setting in Option => MRT Option. Also check that "Network support" in Option => MRT Option is set to "wifi_int". If it still not running, perform a reset to reload drivers. USB Bluetooth dongle may be used, if connected after changing the value of this setting to ON, then power off, then connect the dongle, then power on. When pairing, the distance between the device and the dongle should be 0.5 m. There may be no A2DP (audio) support. For audio support, the following change is mandatory: Option => Engineer Option => BT_AUDIO_ON_OFF -> ON. BT ADDRESS Not Support Because Wi-Fi module installed in this model of TV doesn't support Bluetooth. +HP LINE Headphone -> LineOut Use headphone jack as LineOut along with TV speakers. Volume level on LineOut is very high and cannot be regulated. Besides, there is an audio delay between TV Speakers and LineOut that cannot be corrected too. Resolution FHD Local Dimming 0 Wifi Vendor QCA May require changing after Wi-Fi+Bluetooth module replacement. Voice Recognition OFF Need to be ON for Bluetooth support. MBR Support OFF Multi-Brand Remote. Set to ON along with "Samsung Smart Control" to enable it. Samsung Smart View ON If set to OFF, it doesn't prevent Samsung Smart View mobile app from connecting to TV. Samsung Smart Control OFF Need to be ON for Bluetooth support. Simple IR Remote Control OFF !Instant On ON If set to ON, TV starts faster, because it skips full initialization, including "Samsung SmartTV" boot logo. But colored text quality on PC is getting worse. If set to ON, the device consumes around 8 W for 20 seconds (sometimes up to 1 minute) before going to 0.5 W after power off. Setting this option to OFF doesn't reduce power consumption below 0.5 W. If set to ON, power consumption periodically rises from 0.5 W to 8 W. If set to OFF, it's not necessary to wait 20 seconds after power off before entering service menu. If set to OFF, wake up by sending KEY_POWER command over the network (LAN or Wi-Fi) doesn't work. !Always Instant On Support ON Seems like the purpose of this setting is similar to "Instant On", but for the case when power supply connects to the mains outlet. Motion plus ON If set to OFF, "Auto Motion Plus Settings" menu is replaced with "LED Clear Motion" in Settings => Picture => Expert Settings. +Sound Mirroring OFF -> ON Adds "Sound Mirroring" item to Settings => Sound => Expert Settings with the following description: "Share your mobile device's sound using your TV speakers". Requires Bluetooth support by TV. After turning this feature on, wireless speakers connected to your TV will be disconnected. https://www.samsung.com/in/support/tv-audio-video/how-to-do-sound-mirroring-in-k-series/ IOT Hub Support OFF SPDIF Support ON If set to OFF, "Audio Delay" disappears from Settings => Sound => Expert Settings. It means that Audio Delay is likely to apply to SPDIF out only (not HDMI-ARC, TV speakers, or headphones). The LED in SPDIF out continues to glow, power consumption not reduced. +HDR PLUS Support OFF -> ON If set to ON, "HDR+ Mode" appears in Settings => Picture => Expert Settings and affects the picture when turned on. However, Windows 10 v1903 x64 doesn't recognize monitor as HDR. Remember that HDR is for UHD only. !IPv6 Support ON TV Plus Support ON This is a free ad-supported Samsung video service (news, sports, kids, lifestyle, gaming, and more). "Super useful to set OFF if you get annoyed like me with it constantly switching to channel 4000 when you turn the TV on". Automatically sets back to ON after firmware upgrade. MM: This service is not available on my TV, and corresponding app cannot be found in Samsung Apps on Smart Hub. NagSam Support OFF EWBS Support OFF Emergency Warning Broadcast System. Always reverts back to OFF on every power on. Probably, depends on the value of Region setting. 360 Audio Support Probably, relates to VR or Xbox 360 audio. Decor Mode Support OFF Bendable Panel OFF Production Option China HD OFF NT Conversion OFF Select LCD/PDP LCD FAN Support OFF 21_9 Service OFF If set to ON, "21:9 Standard" appears in Settings => Picture => Picture Size Settings => Picture Size. But the picture in this mode is shown with wrong colors, even if switched to 16:9 mode. AUTO STAND Support OFF Not supported in this model of TV. Requires hardware that allows to adjust TV position from remote control. CUBE Support LETTER BOX DETECT SUPPORT OFF It doesn't convert programmes broadcasted as 4:3 into other formats. Pointer Support OFF Doesn't add USB mouse support in Settings, etc. Accelerator Support ON Probably, allows USB keyboard. Type Of PANEL KEY 5 Way Defines the type and position of OSD (On Screen Display) when using joystick button on the back of TV. 5 Way Function Key R_BACK Doesn't affect anything. Screen Mirroring 2K Frame TV OFF Not working (factory reset is required after changing the value to ON). This function will add Art mode icon and boot splash image, but the TV will go to sleep mode, and it isn't possible to add pictures with Smart View app (probably it's an app bug). Anyway black screen only. On Timer Support OFF If set to ON, "On Timer" doesn't appear in Settings => General => System Manager => Time. Off Timer Support ON If set to OFF, "Off Timer" disappears from Settings => General => System Manager => Time. PC Mode Dimming Support OFF Multi-Screen II OFF PiP (Picture-in-Picture). Not supported in this model. Power Animation Support ON If set to OFF, the device cannot be powered off by remote control. 21_9 Picture Size OFF Flickerless OFF If set to ON, flicker still exists and visible when backlight level is less than 18. MVPD Auto Detect Support OFF Multichannel Video Programming Distribution (Broadcast Cable). The support is depended on country/region. Seems to be unsupported in my location (Russia). HP Auto Detect Support OFF Restores back to OFF when TV is powered on. HP may mean Headphones. UHDA OFF Auto Power LAST POWER Defines whether TV should be turned on/off when the power in outlet is restored after blackout. Smart Control Type economic OCM Support OFF DO NOT CHANGE THIS SETTING TO ON! Otherwise, your TV will turn to a brick, constantly showing a picture with TV connected to some Samsung device by a cable. You will NOT be able to enter service menu with common INFO+SETTINGS+MENU+POWER sequence! The only way to do that, is to use INFO+FACTORY sequence from service remote control, or hand-made Audio-to-IR adapter based on two LEDs (https://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php?title=Build_your_own_IR_transmitter). By the way, I used L-53F3C (5mm, 940nm, 20mW, 30deg, 1.2V), and achieved reliable remote control at the distance of 7 meters from TV (direct line of sight). Maybe it could work even at longer distances, I didn't try. Now it's clear, why this setting appears in advanced menu only. OCM means One Connect Mini. This is expensive Samsung device aimed to replace built-in inputs/outputs on the back of TV with external box (see https://www.samsung.com/au/support/tv-audio-video/ports-on-samsung-one-connect-box). +Blur Reduction OFF -> ON Adds "Blur Reduction" slider to Settings => Picture => Expert Settings => Auto Motion Plus Settings. +Smart Audio Support ON -> OFF Replaces "Optimized" item with "Music, Movie, Clear Voice" in Settings => Sound => Sound Mode. Adds "Auto Volume" to Settings => Sound => Expert Settings. +Autovol Support OFF -> ON Enables "Auto Volume" in Settings => Sound => Expert Settings. Go to that menu to turn it on. Equalizer Band 7 Allows to reduce the number of equalizer bands down to 4. DDP Audio Out Support ON Dolby Digital Plus. Not tested. OCF TV Thing Support OFF OCF means Open Connectivity Foundation. This is industrial IoT standard, see https://openconnectivity.org. +ATSC3 Support ON -> OFF Advanced Television Systems Committee standards, a replacement for the analog NTSC standard. Set to OFF, since "Product SYSTEM INFO" shows ATSC3_SUPPORT=FALSE. +Show power on with mobile OFF -> ON Enables Wi-Fi awakening. Requires Samsung Smarthing app from Google Play. Doesn't work with Google Assistant or IFTTT. MM: Adds "Power On with Mobile" item to Settings => General => Network. If this item is not activated in Settings, power consumption in standby mode is getting down to 0.3 W (from usual 0.5 W), because Wi-Fi and LAN modules are turned off. Wake On LAN feature becomes unavailable, of course. MM: For this feature to work with common WoL software, turn it on in Settings => General => Network, then cycle the power to off/on. If wake up doesn't work, make sure that the following settings in Option => MRT Option are set to ON: "Instant On", "Always Instant On", and probably "OTN Support". Anyway, this feature works unreliably. Engineer Option !Standby led on/off ON -> OFF Doesn't work. The LED remains ON in standby mode. Num of Network Stream 1 BT_AUDIO_ON_OFF OFF Needs to be ON for Bluetooth headphones support. Config_AV_PATH V_HDMI IDENT TYPE 1234 V_HDMI PATH TYPE ABCD V_EDID TYPE FHD_2D If changed inappropriately, the TV may reboot continuously in less than 10 sec after each power on. !ARC PORT HDMI2 Audio Return Channel. Not tested yet. MHL PORT NONE Allows to connect a smartphone via Micro-USB-to-HDMI adapter (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-Definition_Link). Not tested.
